AROONA Overview Aroona is a Caloudra suburb to the west of the Nicklin Way ie. not on the beachfront. Main Aroona’s postcode is 4551, which it shares with Battery Hill, Bells Creek, Caloundra, Currimundi, Dicky Beach, Golden Beach, Kings Beach, Little Mountain, Meridan Plains, Moffat Beach, Pelican Waters and Shelly Beach. SCHOOLS The closest state primary and secondary schools are Currimundi State School, Caloundra State School, and Caloundra State High School. SHOPS Aroona is close to the major shopping centres in Caloundra.
BATTERY HILL Overview Battery Hill is a Caloudra suburb, not on the beachfront but very close to Dicky Beach, It is a high area of Caloundra and some properties have wonderful sea views. Main Battery Hill’s postcode is 4551, which it shares with Aroona, Bells Creek, Caloundra, Currimundi, Dicky Beach, Golden Beach, Kings Beach, Little Mountain, Meridan Plains, Moffat Beach, Pelican Waters and Shelly Beach. Schools – The closest state primary and secondary schools are Currimundi State School, Caloundra State School, and Caloundra State High School and currumindi special school, it is also close to child care centres. Shops – Battery Hill is close to the major shopping centres in Caloundra.
BIRTINYA Overview Birtinya is a suburb of the greater Kawana area, between Mooloolaba and Caloundra. It is located at the southern end of the Kawana Way, a relatively new road from the Sunshine Motorway to Kawana. While the suburb is not located on the beach it is very close to Bokarina and Wurtulla beaches, and has some wonderful grassed and parked areas. This area is becoming very popular with new families. Main Birtinya’s postcode is 4575 which it shares with Bokarina, Buddina, Kawana, Minyama, Parrearra, Warana and Wurtulla. Schools – The closest state primary and secondary school is Kawana Waters State College, which provides for years Preschool-12. It’s also the home of the very popular Pacific Lutheran College. Shops – Kawana Shopping World is close to Birtinya, and many large stores are located along the nearby Nicklin Way.
CALOUNDRA Overview From a small seaside village some fifty years ago Caloundra has expanded and developed into a vibrant residential community – the sought after beach suburbs are complimented by areas such as Aroona, Battery Hill and Little Mountain, the latter in particular has witnessed considerable development in the past five years and accommodates Primary Schools, a large High School and a Private School at Bellvista. Main The beach suburbs including Bulcock Beach, Kings Beach, Shelly Beach, Moffat Beach, Dicky Beach and Currimundi all offer residents very close access to surf beaches and subsequently are our most sought after and expensive suburbs. The southern end of Caloundra includes Golden Beach which fronts the very scenic Pumicestone Channel, the western suburb of Golden Beach joins the quite famous and sought after Pelican Waters Estate, offering Lake frontage, deep water lots and of course great large residential blocks in a master planned estate, this development offer local shopping and a Coles Supermarket with a new town centre being developed in the near future. Established residential suburbs such as Battery Hill, Aroona, Currimundi, Little Mountain and Wurtulla offer modern residential living all in close proximity to beaches and large shopping villages.
CURRIMUNDI Overview Currimundi is a beachside suburb of Caloundra, it also boasts a popular lake, and is very popular with families it is one of our dog friendly beaches. Main Currimundi’s postcode is 4551, which it shares with Aroona, Battery Hill, Bells Creek, Caloundra, Dicky Beach, Golden Beach, Kings Beach, Little Mountain, Meridan Plains, Moffat Beach, Pelican Waters and Shelly Beach. Schools – The closest state primary and secondary schools are Currimundi State School, Caloundra State School, and Caloundra State High School. Shops – Currimundi is close to the major shopping centres in Caloundra it had two cafes right on the water front adjacent to parks and bbq’s.
GOLDEN BEACH Overview Golden Beach is a suburb south of Caloundra, alonside the Pumicestone Passage and close to the quite new Pelican Waters estate. Main Golden Beach’s postcode is 4551, which it shares with Aroona, Battery Hill, Bells Creek, Caloundra, Currimundi, Dicky Beach, Kings Beach, Little Mountain, Meridan Plains, Moffat Beach, Pelican Waters and Shelly Beach, Its calm beaches are ideal for families with small children, jet ski’s, water sports and fishing. Schools – The closest state primary and secondary schools are Golden Beach State School, Caloundra State School, and Caloundra State High School. Shops – Golden Beach is close to the major shopping centres in Caloundra and has small shopping centre, with doctors and chemist.
LITTLE MOUNTAIN Overview Little Mountain is a suburb just west of Caloundra on the road that joins Caloundra with the Bruce Highway and comprises in one sect of mainly acrerage properties and normal blocks in the other. This is also the home of the famous Corbould Park Racecourse. Main Little Mountain’s postcode is 4551, which it shares with Aroona, Battery Hill, Bells Creek, Caloundra, Currimundi, Dicky Beach, Golden Beach, Kings Beach, Little Mountain, Meridan Plains, Moffat Beach, Pelican Waters and Shelly Beach. Schools -The closest state primary and secondary schools are Caloundra State School, and Caloundra State High School, unity college and meridian state college and child care centers. Shops – Little Mountain is close to the major shopping centers in Caloundra and has a small shopping centre of its own.
MOFFAT BEACH Overview Moffat Beach is a beachside suburb of Caloundra and one of the most sought after suburbs. Main Moffat Beach’s postcode is 4551, which it shares with Aroona, Battery Hill, Bells Creek, Caloundra, Currimundi, Golden Beach, Kings Beach, Little Mountain, Meridan Plains, Dicky Beach, Pelican Waters and Shelly Beach. Schools – The closest state primary and secondary schools are Currimundi State School, Caloundra State School, and Caloundra State High School. Shops – Moffat Beach is close to the major shopping centres in Caloundra and has small stores itself, it also has a wonderful selections of outdoor dining with fantastic views and ocean breezes.
PELICAN WATERS Overview Pelican Waters, a canal-estate suburb five km south-west of Caloundra, is formed on the Bells Creek estuary and wetland. It is separated from the coast by Golden Beach, and in that way resembles the canal estates formed on the Gold Coast in the wetlands behind the coastal resort suburbs. Main Pelican Waters was the first canal estate near Caloundra since Kawana Waters (1960s), and development began in 1990. Its fundamental point of difference from Kawana Waters was a golf course, designed by Greg Norman and opened in 2001. Land sales boomed upon the announcement of the golf course, prices rising by 85% during 1998-2003, considerably more than in Caloundra. A Ramada (renamed Crowne Plaza) international resort hotel opened in 2005, and the independent Caloundra City School also opened in 2005. Forty or more percent of Pelican Water’s area is stated to be open space, the canals contributing much of that. Pelican Waters’ shopping centre (2001, warehouse, supermarket, 22 shops) is near the boundary with Golden Beach.
WURTULLA Overview Wurtulla is a beachside suburb just north of Caloundra. With a patrolled beach during school holidays. Main Wurtulla’s postcode is 4575 which it shares with Birtinya, Bokarina, Buddina, Kawana, Minyama, Parrearra, and Warana. Schools – The closest state primary and secondary school are Currimundi State School and Kawana Waters State College, which provides for years Preschool-12. There is also a special school at Currumindi. Shops – Wurtulla is almost exactly half way between Kawana Shopping World and Sunland Shopping Centre at Caloundra. There are also a smaller shopping complex and supermarket in the suburb, with doctors and dentist also available.
